The Tulsa Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect who robbed a beauty store at knifepoint. On January 17, 2024, officers responded to the Golden Beauty Supply near 7th and Sheridan for an armed robbery in progress. At the scene, the store clerk informed officers that the suspect had pulled a knife and threatened to kill them.

The suspect stole two ponytail hair extensions before fleeing east on foot. Officers scoured the area for the suspect before they were located near 6500 East Easton. According to TPD, the suspect was wearing one of the stolen hair extensions and was still carrying the knife used in the robbery.

David Newby was arrested for Armed Robbery. TPD explained that Newby falls under the McGirt ruling and will either be prosecuted in Tribal Court or Federal Court.
