A 36-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murdering a six-year-old. In a news release, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona announced that 36-year-old Pablo Martinez Jr. pleaded guilty to Second-Degree Murder for killing a child. Martinez will be sentenced on July 5, 2024.
Authorities say Martinez admitted to murdering a six-year-old by holding the victim’s face under a running bathtub faucet for five to ten minutes on September 29, 2019. The victim inhaled water causing liquid thermal burns and death. Authorities say the victim was an enrolled member of the Pascua Yaqui Indian Tribe.
Martinez will face a maximum sentence of life in prison, a fine of $250,000, and five years of supervised release.
