The Montgomery Police Department has charged a suspect with murder in the fatal shooting of Michael Cook. According to a social media post from the Montgomery Police Department, 31-year-old Travis Mims has been charged with murder.

Authorities identified Mims as the suspect in the shooting death of 45-year-old Michael Cook on May 6, 2022. MPD said Mims was served on November 18, 2022 by MPD Homicide Detectives while in the custody of the Department of Corrections for unrelated charges.

On December 12, 2023, Mims was transported to Montgomery and booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility with no bond. No additional information is available at this time.
