Toms River NJ teacher pleads guilty to endangering the welfare of a child after posting sexually explicit photos on Twitter

A Toms River, New Jersey teacher has pleaded guilty to three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. On November 6, 2023, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that 48-year-old Kyle Banner pled guilty to three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. According to a statement from the Prosecutor’s Office, the State will seek a term of 364 days in the Ocean County Jail as to each count to run concurrently at Banner’s sentencing.

The State will also seek the forfeiture of Banner’s teacher license, require Banner to register as a Megan’s Law Offender, and subject Banner to Parole Supervision for life. On April 23, 2023, authorities were made aware that Banner, who was a teacher at Toms River Intermediate North and Ocean County College, had posted sexually explicit photos of himself on his public Twitter profile. Banner was suspended from his teaching position without pay on April 24.

Detectives say students had viewed the photos by accessing Banner’s Twitter profile and that the photos were taken in his classroom at Toms River Intermediate North. Detectives also say that Banner sent inappropriate photos of himself to a student via Snapchat between October and December 2022. Detectives recovered images of Banner engaging in sexual conduct with himself in his classroom.
