Three teens arrested in fatal shooting of 16-year-old near Mariner’s Cay Apartments

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three teens in connection to the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy. HCSO reports that deputies responded to the Publix at Mariner Commons in Spring Hill for a shooting around 7:40 p.m. on August 18, 2024.

At the scene, deputies found multiple victims around a vehicle parked near the Publix. Five teenage males were in a vehicle that traveled to Publix after the shooting at the Mariner’s Cay Apartments.

HCSO says the investigation determined that the teens were entering the apartment complex when they began taking gunfire. The teens fled to the Mariner Commons where one teen entered the Publix to ask for help.

Three teens were struck by bullets. A 16-year-old male was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A 15-year-old and a 17-year-old were taken to area hospitals for treatment. They are expected to make a full recovery.

Detectives arrested Damarion Hall, Uriah Booker, and Tarian Rush in connection to the shooting. HCSO alleges that the shooting was the result of an ongoing feud between several of the teens who had recently been involved in a physical fight.

Rush has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Booker is charged with 2nd Degree Murder – Accessory After the Fact. Hall is charged with Accessory After the Fact to 2nd Degree Murder.

Rush is being held without bond at the Hernando County Detention Center. Booker and Hall were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center where they’re being held without bond.
