Three-Day Fatal Crash Trial Ends In Guilty Verdict Against Orange County Man

Eddie Lee King has been found guilty of a fatal collision on May 6, 2021. An Orange County jury convicted King on two counts of vehicular homicide on December 13, 2023.

A deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office tried to execute a traffic stop on May 6, 2021, in the area of North Orange Blossom Trail and Lee Road. King, the driver of a Chevrolet Impala, pulled into a gas station but continued driving. King turned onto Lee Road at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle. The Chevrolet crossed over into oncoming traffic, colliding with two vehicles.

A passenger in the Chevrolet Impala and the driver of one of the impacted vehicles succumbed to their injuries. The passenger in the Chevrolet was identified as 35-year-old Gilberto Vinaja Estrada. Stephanie Marshall, 50, was identified as the driver of one of the impacted vehicles.

The Chevrolet’s Electronic Data Recorder “EDR” revealed King was going 85 mph, 2-1/2 minutes before colliding with the two other vehicles. King tested positive for cocaine at the time of the crash.

King alleged Estrada was the driver in the crash. Witnesses identified King as the driver of the Chevrolet at the time of the crash.

A sentencing date is scheduled for February 9, 2024.
