The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect for burglary and kidnapping. According to SCSO, the adult male suspect has been charged with Burglary 1st Degree, Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, and Violation of a Protection Order with Assault. Around 9:40 a.m. on March 20, 2024, SCSO deputies responded to a reported domestic violence incident at a home in the 5800 block of South Palouse Highway.

An adult female victim said her ex-boyfriend, 42-year-old Nicholas S. Taylor, walked into the home where she was visiting without permission. Taylor was allegedly armed with a hammer when he grabbed the victim and tried to force her to leave with him. The victim broke free. An adult male and the person the victim was visiting feared for his life and the victim’s safety. He shot Taylor in the leg before Taylor fled in his vehicle, according to SCSO.

Around 9:45 a.m., an AMR ambulance crew informed SCSO that they were contacted in a parking lot at 57th Avenue and South Regal Street by Taylor who had been shot in the leg. Taylor was taken to an area hospital for treatment. SCSO says the victim had obtained a domestic violence protection order against Taylor. The victim and the male shooter cooperated with investigators and were released without charges.
