According to a social media post from the Birmingham Police Department, authorities are on the scene of a homicide. The Birmingham 911 Communications Division began receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a shootout just before 4 PM. East Precinct officers responded to a person shot call in the 3400 block of 39th Place North.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence. An adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound was observed inside the vehicle. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Authorities say the preliminary investigation has revealed that a shooting took place in the 3400 block of 39th Place North and the victim was struck by gunfire.

Authorities believe multiple houses were struck by gunfire although there are no additional gunshot victims. At this time, no one is in custody.
