Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers involved in shooting in Knox County

Knox County, Tennessee – The Tennessee Highway Patrol said in a social media statement that its troopers were involved in a shooting at Watt Road in Knox County.

According to the THP statement, a pursuit involving THP troopers in Knox County ended earlier today when the suspect crashed on Watt Road at the entrance to I-40 East.

Police allege that the suspect fired at officers with a rifle leading to troopers returning fire. The suspect was transported to an area emergency room.

According to police, the suspect’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. No troopers were injured during the incident.

The investigation is being coordinated with the District Attorney’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
