Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests man for murder of pregnant woman

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the fatal shooting of a woman and the death of her unborn baby. TPSO says it has arrested an Amite man in the shooting death of his pregnant girlfriend.

TPSO reports that 22-year-old Demarcus Womack was arrested and booked on charges of 2nd Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Murder (Feticide), and Obstruction of Justice. On October 25 around 7 a.m., deputies responded to a home on Bankston Road in Amite after a 19-year-old female was found unresponsive.

Authorities say Aieron Thomas was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Thomas was 13 weeks pregnant. TPSO says deputies identified Thomas’ live-in boyfriend as the suspect in the shooting.

Police say Womack admitted to the shooting as well as trying to hide evidence of the crime.
