Memphis police were dispatched to the 600 block of Shelby Drive at 2:09 p.m. on December 20, 2023, to investigate a report of a robbery. Following a preliminary investigation, officers determined two unidentified armed suspects approached a female victim and stole her red Dodge Challenger. The suspect fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Officers observed the stolen vehicle around 2:28 p.m. traveling westbound on Shelby Drive. The driver failed to heed a traffic stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

Officers responded to the intersection of Shelby Drive and Elvis Presley where the stolen vehicle had been involved in a three-vehicle crash. The suspect tried to flee on foot but where apprehended.

One of the suspects sustained serious injuries and was transported to Regional One Health. The suspect was listed in critical condition.

The other suspect was taken to Methodist South in non-critical condition.
