The Stafford County Sheriff announced that the shooting early this morning on Deacon Road is now being investigated as a homicide. Around 12:23 a.m. this morning, deputies responded to the 100 block of Deacon Road. At the scene, deputies located a 33-year-old male from King George suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but succumbed to his injuries earlier this morning. Detectives say they have identified 29-year-old Darren Jamal Newman as a suspect in the shooting.
Newman is wanted for second-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at 540-658-4400 or 911. Newman is not in custody at this time.
The Sheriff’s Office said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
