Springfield, Missouri – The Springfield Police Department has provided an update on a murder-suicide on Tuesday.
SPD said in a social media post that its officers responded to a well-being check at the John B. Hughes Apartments at 2100 North Clifton Avenue around 3:56 p.m. on April 15, 2025.
At the scene, officers reportedly found a man and a woman deceased inside the apartment. SPD’s Homicide Unit responded to take over the investigation.
Authorities say the investigation determined that 21-year-old Andrew Calton killed 21-year-old Katrina Dotson before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Four juveniles were inside the apartment but they were not injured. SPD says this is the city’s fifth homicide investigation of the year.
