The Springfield Police Department reports that it is investigating an officer-involved shooting. According to SPD, one person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say no officers or citizens were injured. SPD says its officers responded to check the well-being of a man with a firearm who was making suicidal statements near Golden Avenue and Division Street around 12:06 a.m. on November 21, 2024.

According to SPD, officers found the man who pointed a firearm at officers and citizens. The man reportedly continued walking west toward O’Hara Avenue and Division Street.

SPD alleges that the man pointed the firearm at officers leading to an officer-involved shooting. The man was hit once and transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
