The Springfield Police Department is investigating a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian. Around 3:48 p.m. on December 22, 2023, Springfield Police Department officers responded to a crash at Kansas Expressway and Grant. Police say 82-year-old Barbara Baker was driving northbound in a 2023 Toyota Camry when she hit a pedestrian who was walking eastbound across the northbound lanes of Kansas Expressway.

The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim was identified as 32-year-old Levi Goins. On December 29, 2023, Goins passed away from the injuries sustained in the crash. The Springfield Police Department said the investigation is ongoing.
