A stabbing in West Spokane, Washington has killed one and seriously injured another. The suspect is in custody. The Spokane Police Department reports that officers responded to a residence in the 5300 block of West Sunset Boulevard to assist the Spokane Fire Department just before 9:30 p.m. on June 5, 2024.
SFD responded to the home after receiving a medical alert. Once inside, authorities contacted a female at the front door suffering from serious injuries. The female victim sustained multiple stab wounds.
A second subject was found dead inside the residence. First responders received information about the suspect in the assault. The female victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Officers secured the scene and initiated a search of the area. Officers checked the home to search for the suspect. 34-year-old Kelly M. Hyde was detained and transported to the Major Crimes Unit for further questioning.
Hyde was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for 2nd Degree Murder and 1st Degree Assault. SPD says both charges are domestic violence related.
