The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting and a related vehicle fire. Around 5:10 a.m. on March 24, 2024, deputies responded to several reports of shots being fired in the 15700 block of East 4th Avenue. One caller reported that a male and female were spotted in the apartment complex parking lot walking south. The caller provided authorities with descriptions of the male and female.
At the scene, responding deputies located a male and female matching the descriptions. They were detained in the parking lot of NomNom. SCSO says they were uncooperative and unwilling to provide any information about what had happened. Deputies searched for evidence of a shooting, but did not locate a shooting scene. The male and female were released.
Around 6:10 a.m., deputies responded to the same apartment complex at 15720 East 4th Avenue for a vehicle on fire in the parking lot and a female screaming. The description of the female matched the female contacted earlier. Deputies found a silver 2010 Chevrolet Impala engulfed. No one was inside the vehicle. The vehicle had been shot several times and was registered to the female who had been contacted previously.
The female and male were detained again. The female explained that she and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Jordan G. Flemming, went to a bar and met some people. They went to one of the apartments to continue socializing. After going to the NomNom to buy a phone charger, they returned to the apartment complex. The female got into the Impala and tried to drive away, but the engine began smoking and caught fire.
They ran to NomNom where deputies contacted them again. Flemming allegedly used his brother’s name to identify himself initially. Deputies learned he had an unrelated misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. He was also charged with Criminal Impersonation and Marking False Statements. Deputies collected several spent shell casings and bullet fragments near the burned vehicle. The female was released without charges.
