A K-9 was shot by an armed suspect in Compton. Authorities apprehended the suspect without further escalation. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Special Enforcement Bureau personnel responded to help Compton Sheriff Station Deputies in arresting a suspect involved in an assault with a deadly weapon.
During the search, the suspect discharged his firearm striking K9-Kjeld. The K9 was wearing a bulletproof vest but still suffered an injury. LACSD said that K9 Kjeld underwent successful treatment and has since been discharged from veterinary care.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
