Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office arrests three suspects in alleged abuse of 11-month-old boy

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three individuals in connection to the alleged abuse of an 11-month-old boy. SCSO reports that the Chesnee Police Department requested assistance from SCSO’s Special Victims Unit at Spartanburg Regional Hospital on June 16, 2024. At the scene, an 11-month-old male was being prepared for transport to Prisma Health System Pediatrics in Greenville.

SCSO says the infant had multiple contusions on his torso, back, and head. He also had severe mouth and eye infections, damaged neck ligaments, and multiple back compressions. The baby tested positive for Cocaine, THC, and Fentanyl.

SCSO alleges that the abuse occurred at 304 North Alabama Avenue in Chesnee and at 7558 Parris Bridge Road in Chesnee. The child was placed into emergency protective custody with the South Carolina Department of Social Services.

The mother, 27-year-old Hannah Michaela Cason, and 22-year-old Dalton Lane Miller are charged with Unlawful Neglect of a Child. The maternal grandmother, 64-year-old Kathryn Harbaugh Cason, is charged with Misprision of a Felony for failing to report the child abuse and misleading investigations.

Kathryn Cason has since bonded out of jail.
