The Slidell Police Department is investigating after a 12-year-old boy was critically injured during an accident on Father’s Day. SPD reports that the boy was struck by a vehicle in Slidell.
Just before 1 p.m. on June 16, 2024, SPD received multiple 911 calls about a victim being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Fremaux Avenue and 10th Street. The preliminary investigation suggests the boy ran into the roadway while chasing his dog.
A Ram 2500 pickup was traveling east on Fremaux when it hit the child. SPD says the child suffered severe injuries and was transported to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. At this time, the child is in critical condition.
Traffic Investigators are investigating, but it is not believed that impairment or speed are contributing factors.
