The Cecil County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of an Aberdeen Police officer. CCSO reports that APD was made aware of a possible sexual assault involving a police officer in early January 2024.
After identifying the officer and the location of the incident, APD says it notified Cecil County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division to initiate a criminal investigation. On February 1, 2024, APD was provided with information that led to the suspension of the accused 33-year-old Radovan Jovic.
CCSO says the investigation determined that Jovic committed the act in March of 2019 in the 2000 block of West Creek Village apartments. Jovic is charged with Second Degree Rape, Third Degree Sex Offense, Fourth Degree Sex Offense, Assault Second Degree, False Imprisonment, and Misconduct in Office.
CCSO says Jovic was a six-year veteran of APD and was assigned as an acting Corporal in the Patrol Division. Jovic was arrested on October 7. He is currently being held in the Cecil County Detention Center with no bond.
