Simpson woman arrested for allegedly financially exploiting an elderly Pitt County resident

A woman is behind bars facing nearly 100 counts for allegedly financially exploiting an elderly resident of Pitt County, North Carolina. According to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, it was informed of allegations of financial exploitation of an elder in October 2023. Following an extensive investigation, PCSO obtained warrants charging 42-year-old Dekedriya Donyell Maye with a slew of charges.

PCSO says the crimes involve $1,800 and happened over a three-month period in late 2023. Maye was arrested on April 9, 2024 and booked into the Pitt County Detention Center. She is still in custody with a $300,000 secured bond.

Maye is charged with 31 counts of Identity Theft, 31 counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense, and 31 counts of Financial Exploitation of an Elder by a Person in a Position of Trust.
