Simi Valley Police Department arrests man for assault with a deadly weapon after attacking man with a box cutter

A Simi Valley man has been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on Saturday night. The Simi Valley Police Department reports that SVPD officers responded to the 4700 block of Adam Road in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon around 10:57 p.m. on May 25, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found an adult male victim suffering from a laceration to the head. The victim was transported to an area trauma center for treatment for a moderate head injury.

The officers determined that the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal argument during a party at the aforementioned location. At some point, the argument turned violent and the suspect struck the victim with a box cutter.

The suspect was contacted and taken into custody for assault with a deadly weapon. SVPD says 35-year-old Luis Vargas Calvillo was booked into the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
