The San Francisco Police Department reports that shots were fired at its officers on Thursday night. Around 8:15 p.m. on October 3, 2024, SFPD officers were working in plainclothes in the area of 9th and Mission Streets.

Officers encountered a suspect who fired rounds towards them. Authorities say the officers initiated a foot pursuit. With help from the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

SFPD reports that officers canvassed the area for victims and additional suspects. No victims or additional suspects were found. There have been no reported injuries at this time.
