Suspects fired shots at officers with the Aurora Police Department before a pursuit. The Aurora Police Department reports that officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 24200 block of East Mexico Avenue just after 8 p.m.
The caller informed authorities that their vehicle was stolen from their garage. Around 9 p.m., officers found the vehicle near 23rd Avenue and Dayton Street. Officers were following the vehicle when multiple shots were fired at police.
APD says officers did not return fire, but a police pursuit was authorized and initiated. The pursuit traveled into Denver before returning to Aurora. A flat tire ended the pursuit near Montview Boulevard and Cathay Street.
Multiple suspects fled from the disabled vehicle. APD and Denver Police Department officers searched for the suspects. APD says one adult and multiple minors have been detained as of 11:30 p.m.
Several firearms have been recovered. No officers were injured during the incident. One juvenile was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
