Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office searching for puppy taken with stolen car

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a puppy that was stolen along with a stolen vehicle. SCSO reports that a deputy attempted to carry out a traffic stop on a black Volkswagen Passat in the 7400 block of Southwest Auburn Street that had been reported stolen out of Topeka.

The driver refused to stop leading to a pursuit. The pursuit ended near Southwest 29th Street and Southwest Fairlawn Road. The male driver fled on foot but was apprehended inside a restaurant in the 2800 block of Southwest Fairlawn Road.

23-year-old Sahayvian J. Griggs was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges of Felony Flee or Attempt to Elude, Interference with Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, Possession of Stolen Property, Aggravated Endangering a Child, Violating a Traffic Signal, Speeding, and Failure to Properly Signal a Turn.

A 16-year-old female passenger was also taken into custody. SCSO says a firearm was found in her purse. The juvenile was arrested on charges of Felony Interference and Criminal Carrying of a Firearm.

The Topeka Police Department and SCSO are looking for a puppy that was stolen along with the vehicle.
