The Martin County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a Palm City man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder following a violent attack on his girlfriend and her daughter. Martin County Detectives charged 60-year-old Shaun Dougherty with two counts of attempted murder after he allegedly shot his girlfriend and her adult daughter.

The shooting happened last night at a condo in a gated community off Greenwood Way in Palm City. Detectives say the victims told them that Dougherty became enraged following a disagreement. He allegedly shot his girlfriend in the neck and leg as she tried to run.

The victim’s adult daughter was at home at the time. She reportedly ran out of the bedroom after hearing gunshots. Dougherty allegedly shot her as she tried to flee. Once both women made it outside, they ran to a neighbor’s and called 911. MCSO SWAT arrived at the scene and forced Dougherty out. The victims were transported to the hospital and are expected to recover.
