Redding, California – The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy-involved shooting is being investigated in Redding.
According to a SCSO statement, the department received a report of a male under the influence of narcotics at a residence in the 12000 block of Bob’s Mountain Road in Redding around 6:17 p.m. on January 1.
Authorities say the male was reported to be with his elderly parents, threatening to blow up a vehicle, and threatening to harm himself.
SCSO says deputies made contact with the parents who were outside the residence. A short time later, 52-year-old William Clark Littlefield exited the residence, according to SCSO.
Authorities allege that Littlefield forced a violent confrontation leading to two deputies discharging their duty weapons. Littlefield was pronounced deceased.
No deputies were injured during the incident.
