Shasta County Sheriff’s Office arrests 60-year-old man in connection to stabbing of 50-year-old

A 60-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the stabbing of a 50-year-old man at a residence in Montgomery Creek. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office reports that Burney Station deputies responded to a residence on Webster Way in Montgomery Creek for a stabbing around 3:43 a.m. on July 5, 2024.

Deputies found a 50-year-old male victim at a residence in the 30000 block of Jackson Lane. The victim suffered a laceration to his abdomen and was taken to an area hospital. The victim is expected to survive his injuries.

Deputies say the suspect, 60-year-old Lester Potts, had stabbed the victim at the Webster Way location. Potts was taken into custody. SCSO believes Potts and the victim are known to each other.

Potts had recently been staying with the victim. The circumstances leading up to the stabbing are not known at this time. Potts was booked into the Shasta County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder.
