According to a SCSO media release, deputies responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Hardenbrook Avenue to carry out a welfare check on an 11-month-old around 11:16 a.m. on March 2, 2025.
Deputies responded to the scene after receiving a report of possible child abuse at the location. At the scene, SCSO deputies contacted 22-year-old Aleesha Ann Allen who was in the process of placing her child in the vehicle.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies observed the juvenile and saw facial injuries that appeared to be deliberately inflicted and consistent with child abuse.
Deputies interviewed Allen and other witnesses at the scene. The child’s mother, 22-year-old Aleesha Ann Allen, was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail.
Allen is charged with Child Abuse with Possible Great Bodily Injury/Death and is being held without bail.
The juvenile was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. SCSO says Children and Family Services was contacted. The juvenile was released to the care of family members.
Update – The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office said in a social media post that Aleesha Allen was arraigned on one felony count of Child Abuse Under Circumstances or Conditions Likely to Cause Greatly Bodily Injury or Death.
Allen is being released on supervised own recognizance. According to officials, she will be prohibited from consuming any alcohol and having contact with the victim.
Allen will be subject to GPS monitoring to ensure she does not have contact with the victim. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 8 for plea disposition.
On March 2, Allen was arrested by Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies after an 11-month-old child in her face was found with facial injuries that appeared to be deliberately inflicted.
