Seven Knoxville Juveniles Apprehended After Eluding Police In Stolen Vehicle

Seven male juveniles were apprehended at a residence in the 5300 block of W. Martin Mill Pike. Arrest warrants were obtained for all seven juveniles on charges related to weapon possession, evading arrest, and auto theft.

On December 12, 2023, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Knoxville officers in the area of Maryville Pike spotted a Hyundai SUV previously reported stolen in Sevier County. The driver refused to stop with officers tried to pull the stolen Hyundai over.

About 45 minutes later, officers received information about two individuals approaching a residence in the 5300 block of W. Martin Mill Pike. Officers identified a male inside the residence as a juvenile occupant in the stolen Hyundai.

The remaining six juvenile suspects were inside a camper parked behind the residence. Four juveniles surrendered to police without incident. An armed 16-year-old suspect barricaded himself inside the camper.

Negotiators with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Negotiations continued for 90 minutes before the 16-year-old male surrendered to police without further incident. Officers located another suspect hiding inside the camper.

Officers located the stolen Hyundai abandoned a short distance from the residence. Two firearms and suspected Hydrocodone pills were recovered.
