The Seattle Police Department dealt with a woman experiencing a behavioral crisis. SPD reports that patrol officers responded to a woman in crisis possibly using alcohol and narcotics in the 4500 block of South Mead Street around 1:14 a.m. on August 20, 2024.
Officers approached the residence and observed a shotgun through one of the windows. Hostage Negotiation Team officers responded and spoke to the woman. SPD says the woman screamed at police and exited the home armed with a shotgun.
The negotiations continued. When the woman exited her residence again, she was armed with a Molotov cocktail and a lighter. SPD says the woman slipped and dropped the device before being taken into custody.
The 33-year-old woman was transported to Swedish Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. SPD has requested charges of Reckless Endangerment and Aiming/Discharging of a Firearm.
When authorities searched the woman’s residence, they allegedly found a 12-gauge shotgun, a broken liquor bottle, and a lighter.
