The Seal Beach Police Department has arrested a man who allegedly banged on cars, climbed in trees, and assaulted officers. SBPD reports that its officers responded to a call about a suspicious individual “banging on cars and climbing in trees” in the 300 block of 7th Street just before 9 a.m. on September 3.
SBPD says its officer found the suspect kicking a parked car. When the officer attempted to detain the man, an altercation reportedly ensued. Other officers responded to the scene for assistance.
SBPD claims the suspect assaulted two officers before fleeing on foot. He then barricaded himself inside the utility room of a nearby vehicle repair shop, according to authorities. Law enforcement negotiated with the man for 60 minutes until officers made entry and apprehended the suspect without incident.
The officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. The suspect, 44-year-old Jordan Molina, was also taken to an area hospital for medical clearance. At this time, Molina is charged with Resisting or Deterring an Officer by Force.
SBPD confirms additional charges may be forthcoming.
