The Scranton Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened earlier tonight. According to Police Chief Carroll’s Office, police patrols discovered a fight involving approximately 20 people in progress at Weston Field just before 8 p.m. on April 9, 2024.
After the group scattered, police began searching for the offenders in the neighborhood. Roughly four minutes later, officers in the area of Ravine Street and Providence Road heard gunfire. Officers rushed to the location where they found a male suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Several people fled the scene and some were detained. Others were found to be in 1018 North Main Avenue and refused to exit the building. Tactical units are on the scene.
