The Sarasota Police Department reported on social media that it is investigating a shooting that occurred around 1 a.m. on Sunday. SPD says its officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Gillespie Avenue.

Authorities say one person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. At this time, details are limited although SPD confirms the investigation is ongoing.
