The Santa Fe Police Department has announced the arrest of 23-year-old Manuel Joseph Martinez. Around 11 p.m. on September 30, SFPD officers responded to a disorderly conduct near Siringo Road and Camino Consuelo.
At the scene, officers saw a black Cadillac SUV at the bottom of an arroyo. SFPD says an officer saw a male subject step out of the vehicle and attempt to flee on foot. Police say 23-year-old Martinez was covered in blood and dropped a handgun upon contact with officers.
Officers detained Martinez before returning to the vehicle where they found a male and a female deceased. Authorities say the victims suffered at least one gunshot wound. The victims have been identified as 23-year-old Ebony Faith Martinez and 19-year-old Abraham Dominic Romo.
Manuel Joseph Martinez has been charged with two open counts of Murder, one count of Tampering with Evidence, and two counts of Resisting and Obstructing an Officer. He is currently being held in the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center.
Authorities say Martinez has a criminal history, including Trafficking a Controlled Substance, Battery Against a Household Member, and more. He was arrested on September 22, 2024 for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
