The Santa Ana Police Department has identified the man found deceased along the Santa Ana River Trail. SAPD reports that it received a report from the Orange County Fire Authority that a deceased body had been found in the dirt landscaped area at 2100 West 17th Street around 4:38 p.m. on August 14, 2024.
Officers began investigating the suspicious death with help from the Orange County Coroner’s Office. SAPD says the man had visible injuries believed to have been caused by blunt force trauma.
The injuries were reportedly consistent with a traffic collision. The Collision Investigation Unit responded to the scene to investigate. The Orange County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as 51-year-old Raul Beltran.
The cause of death is still being investigated. No other details are available at this time.
