Santa Ana Police Department arrests suspect in fatal stabbing on South Lowell Street

A 25-year-old Santa Ana man is behind bars in connection to the fatal stabbing of 26-year-old William Stephen Nared. In a social media post, the Santa Ana Police Department explained that Communications received a report of unknown trouble at a residence in the 1500 block of South Lowell Street.

SAPD officers responded to the residence and found an adult male victim suffering from a stab wound to the torso. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Orange County Fire Authority. SAPD says the investigation led to the identification of David James Espinosa as the suspect in the stabbing.

Espinosa had reportedly fled the scene on a bicycle before being detained a few blocks from the residence. Homicide Detectives investigated and processed the scene. SAPD says the suspect and victim were roommates. At some point, they had a conflict that led to a physical altercation and the stabbing.

The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as William Stephen Nared of Santa Ana. Espinosa was booked into the Santa Ana Jail for Murder.
