The Sansom Park Police Department said it had arrested a suspect accused of stealing a truck. SPPD reports that officers were flagged down by an individual who said his truck was being stolen at that moment and wanted officers to follow him on June 3, 2024.
SPPD officers followed the man towards Whataburger. The individual pulled in front of a gray 2013 Ram 2500 that was leaving. The victim reportedly got out of his vehicle and pointed at the stolen truck.
When the truck drove off-road, an officer attempted to carry out a traffic stop. The truck fled leading to a pursuit. Spike strips were successfully used by the Fort Worth Police Department.
The driver of the stolen vehicle lost control at around 25 MPH and hit a concrete barrier on 35W before fleeing on foot. SPPD officers and law enforcement from other agencies chased and apprehended the suspect.
SPPD says Davion Kennedy was arrested on a charge of Evading Arrest or Detention in a Motor Vehicle. A neighboring agency is handling the vehicle theft.
