Sanford Police arrest 15-year-old for threatening to become a school shooter

The Sanford Police Department has announced the arrest of a 15-year-old for Intimidating Written/Electronic Threat of Mass Shooting. SPD says it arrested 15-year-old Miguel Ovidio Hernandez Aguilar.

Around 8:30 p.m. on September 12, 2024, officers responded to the area of Pinecrest Drive in reference to an anonymous tip that the 15-year-old had sent social media messages threatening to become a school shooter.

Authorities say they were able to confirm that the sender of the message was Hernandez Aguilar. SPD developed probable cause to arrest the 15-year-old. No other details are available at this time.
