The San Rafael Police Department has arrested a 28-year-old San Rafael woman for fatally stabbing a woman. Officers and paramedics responded to a Terra Linda apartment complex for a report of a possible stabbing in progress on January 8, 2024. At the scene, officers found a 55-year-old woman with numerous stab wounds. The victim was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
28-year-old Tonantzyn Oris Beltran was still at the scene when police arrived. She was arrested for the murder of the victim. Around 5 p.m., officers responded to Cresta Way. They found Beltran on a balcony holding a knife in her hand next to the stabbed victim. Police say her clothes were soaked in blood. A team of officers forced entry through the front door of the apartment and apprehended Beltran.
SRPD detectives are investigating to determine what led up to the murder and why Beltran would commit such an offense. Beltran was identified as the victim’s daughter. San Rafael Police say the incident was broadcast by Beltran on Facebook Live. Detectives learned that Beltran produced content on many social media platforms.
A video created by Beltran shows her in the Santa Rosa Police Department lobby on January 8. SRPD is working with the Santa Rose Police Department on this part of the investigation.
