San Mateo Police arrest boyfriend in homicide of his pregnant girlfriend

The San Mateo Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to the murder of a pregnant woman on Sunday. SMPD reports that its officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of South B Street for a report of a pregnant female who was in “full arrest” around 6:01 p.m. on August 4, 2024.

Authorities were also requested for crowd control since several family members were at the scene and despondent. Officers met with paramedics who informed them that the 37-year-old female victim was nine months pregnant. The victim was pronounced deceased along with the unborn child.

Authorities say witness statements and evidence suggested that the victim’s live-in boyfriend was the likely suspect. He was not present and attempts to locate him were immediately made.

SMPD managed to identify the suspect’s location and develop a plan to take him into custody. The suspect’s vehicle was located by West Covina Police Department officers and the suspect was arrested.

SMPD says several warrants were written and the suspect, Andrew Coleman, was in custody within five hours of the incident. SMPD officers have flown to Southern California to speak to Coleman. At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
