Update – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has identified the victim and suspect in the homicide in the 100 block of North Twin Oaks Valley Road. Deputies responded to the location around 10:20 p.m. on December 26, 2023. At the scene, an adult female victim was found with a stab wound. The victim succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The Sheriff’s Department has identified the victim as 42-year-old Angela Marie Lanway.

Detectives arrested 29-year-old Ziyah Jay Patterson for the murder. Patterson was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

Original Story – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in the 100 block of North Twin Oaks Valley Road in San Marcos. Deputies responded to the aforementioned location around 10:20 p.m. on December 26, 2023 in reference to a stabbing. At the scene, deputies located an adult female victim with a stab wound.

Medical aid was rendered until the victim was transported to an area hospital. The victim succumbed to her injuries. At this time, the victim’s identity is not being released. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said deputies had detained a suspect at the scene of the crime.

The motivation and circumstances of the stabbing remain under investigation.
