The San Antonio Police Department has provided an update on the officer-involved shooting in the 8600 block of Cheviot Heights. Chief McManus explained in a video statement that the suspect ran over his roommate with a vehicle yesterday. The female victim is undergoing several surgeries and remains in critical condition.
Detectives obtained a warrant for the man’s arrest. McManus says a couple of officers came to the location on Saturday night to see if they could find and apprehend the suspect. Officers blocked the suspect’s driveway with their vehicles. The suspect reportedly jumped into his vehicle and squeezed through them hitting one of the officers in the process.
The other officer opened fire on the suspect hitting and killing him. Chief McManus describes the suspect as a 42-year-old man. McManus stressed that this is all preliminary information since the body cam footage has yet to be reviewed.
