Salt Lake City Police investigating two shootings with two fatalities

Update – SLCPD reports that the first shooting investigation began at 11:40 p.m. on Friday when authorities received information about a shooting at 1045 East 2100 South. Police say one person was killed and another person suffered critical but stable injuries.

SLCPD says it is believed that the shooting stemmed from an earlier fight involving multiple people. The second shooting investigation began at 12 a.m. on Saturday when police received information about a shooting near 800 South Park Street.

Police say one person was killed in that shooting. SLCPD believes two people were outside when the shooting occurred.

One person was shot before collapsing and dying at the scene. The other person with the victim went inside the residence and has not come out.

Police say his involvement in the shooting is not known. Authorities confirm Homicide Detectives and PIOs are responding to both scenes.
