On Tuesday, the Salt Lake City Police Department reported it was investigating its sixth homicide of 2024. SLCPD reports that the investigation started around 4:09 p.m. on May 28 when 911 received a call about a shooting at 3075 West Decade Drive.
At the scene, officers found a man on the ground suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. SLCPD’s Homicide Squad will work with the Medical Examiner’s Office to verify the victim’s name and cause of death.
One person is in custody at this time. The circumstances leading up to the fight and shooting are still under investigation. SLCPD believes this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
