Salinas Police arrests Pedro Lopez for attempted murder following stabbing at Laundromat

The Salinas Police Department has arrested a suspect for attempted murder. According to SPD, officers responded to a fight between two male subjects in the 300 block of Williams Road around 4:50 p.m. on Monday. It was reported that one was possibly cut with a metal pipe. At the scene, responding officers found a male victim outside the Laundromat bleeding profusely from his abdomen.

The victim was unable to provide a statement before being transported to an area hospital. SPD says police found a knife and backpack near the victim. Witnesses informed officers that the suspect was still inside the Laundromat. A witness also informed police that the suspect beat the victim outside the Laundromat with a metal broom handle until it broke into two pieces.

Then, 55-year-old Pedro Lopez is accused of using one piece to stab the victim as the fight continued. Police found the broken broom handle discharged in a trashcan inside the Laundromat. At this time, police do not know what led to the altercation.
