The Salinas Police Department has arrested two men for continuous sexual abuse of a minor. SPD reports that officers were notified of a possible sexual assault of a minor child on June 10, 2024.
Officers started an investigation and determined that numerous sexual assaults had occurred over multiple years. Officers and SPD’s Investigations Bureau identified the suspects as 21-year-old Candelario Escobar and 24-year-old Mario Castillo.
Both were arrested on June 11, 2024. The suspects have been booked into the Monterey County Jail for Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a Minor and Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Minor.
