A man has been arrested by Manchester Police after a child suffered a head injury and swollen eyes. The Manchester Police Department reports that a 25-year-old was arrested in connection to the assault of a two-year-old.
On July 2, 2024, MPD officers responded to Elliot Hospital for a report of suspected child abuse. MPD says the child suffered a head injury and both eyes were swollen. Although the child’s injuries were serious, they were not life-threatening.
The child was transported to a Boston Hospital for further evaluation. MPD says police learned that the injuries occurred while the child was in the care of Ryan Sanchez Montanez.
Police established probable cause to arrest Montanez who is charged with Felony Second-Degree Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Montanez is currently on bail awaiting trial for another assault.
He was previously charged with Second-Degree Assault for causing an injury to a child under 13. Montanez was placed on preventative detention.
