Roanoke Rapids Police arrest 30-year-old man for Felony Hit and Run Inflicting Injury

A 30-year-old Roanoke Rapids man has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Friday. RRPD reports that its officers responded to a call about a child less than 16 who was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Park Avenue and East 10th Street around 1 p.m. on June 14, 2024.

Officers investigated and learned that the suspect had left the scene. Witnesses provided officers with a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle. RRPD and Halifax County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the vehicle on Colonial Drive.

30-year-old James Livingston was taken into custody and charged with Felony Hit and Run Inflicting Injury and Failing to Yield for a Pedestrian. RRPD says Livingston had pending charges from Warren County for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

The child suffered multiple injuries but was released from an area hospital later this afternoon.
